Take a closer look at Lindal workmanship.
Imagine, eight of the nation’s most renown architects tasked with creating home designs in what isn’t exactly a competition but each realizing subliminally, at least, that his work would be measured against that of seven peers. It’s kind of like Hollywood starlets dressing for the Oscars.
That was the strategy of the Lindal Architects Collaborative about a decade ago.
It was comprised of architectural firms that believe in sustainability and had an interest in pre-built houses, explained Michael Harris, Lindal CEO at the time, and now designing and consulting independently.
“We chose eight in different parts of North America, each with a different style because the purpose really was to see whether people could take our elements system and give it their own signatures,” said Harris. “I think it succeeded quite beautifully.”
The designs feature a diversity of style but the over-riding characterization is uniqueness.
